Bath romm sink rust starting.

In the bath room sink a small bit of rust is visible around the drain flange.I clean it out as good as possiable only to have it come back and it seems to be getting worse.Any thing I can use to remove the rust for good and coat it with any thing?Cecil

Clean it with a little steel wool and coat it with appliance paint that comes in a small jar. (brush in lid type) Good luck
