I'm renovating a basement bathroom.
The existing toilet flange is lead that come up through concrete floor and wooden sub floor.
I would like to install a new pvc flange on top of or into this lead pipe if possible.
I would also like to off set the flange away from the wall about a inch or so.

Please help.
Cheers
Jon

If indeed the flange is lead, it is probably part of the piping going to the main drain (one piece). You would have to cut off the flange part of the lead leaving enough to "flare" the edge over the concrete to prevent leaks. You would then need to find a PVC inside fit flange and some type of epoxy or adhesive compatable to both materials. The flange will have to be attached to the concrete with Tapcon screws. The offset flanges I have seen online look as though they have a hump in the bottom that would mean some concrete would have to be chipped out to sit into.
If you decide to proceed with this project be advised: Wear gloves while working with lead. Do not use a tool that will cause lead dust to be airborne.Do not eat, drink or smoke while working with the lead. Clean all tools after using and discard the gloves. Good luck and post back with the results.
You may be able to use a repair flange if it will not put the toilet too high. If you are going to tile that may be your best bet as I don't like the thought of working with lead.

Thanks majakdragon
I didn't want to cut up the sub floor if at all possible...
Is there any way to put some sort of flange into the top of the lead pipe??
Thanks again
Jon :)

Guess you'll have to go with the first part of my original post. You can cut the lead with a roofing knife (those heavy curved bladed knives). Takes a little time and effort but not that bad. Good luck.
