Hi there, we have a good sized great room (20'x25') with hardwood floors, a cold air return and several heat ducts around the perimeter of the room and lots of windows facing south and east.. The floor of this room is really cold, especially in winter. Underneath this great room is a crawlspace. The floor of the crawlspace is crushed stone on top of poly. The walls have been insulated with styrofoam/rigid foam and there are ducts running in the joists with one duct opening to give some heat to the crawlspace area. The space is dry and appears pretty well insulated. Its cool down there in winter, not freezing.

What can I do to warm up this floor ??

- thought of insulating under this floor by putting insulation between the floor joists

if so, what kind and what application.

Appreciate the wisdom

If you have it all sealed up like you say. Id say you dont have enough outlets down there. Id put more outlets down there and the heat will go up to the floor so its not lost. The whole crawl space will work like a heat sink for you.
Dont put insulation in the floor joist. I have had to take to much out. You say the walls have insulation could they use more? Does the joist space up there on the sill plate have a R19 insulation in it all around the home belt board there?
