I had a new electric Trane heat pump/AC installed a couple of months ago. It has worked perfectly. Tonight for the first time, I turned on the heat. The moment I moved the switch from cool to heat, I heard the unit kick on for a split second and then stopped abruptly.

The entire system is dead now. No fan, no AC, no heat. All breaker switches appear to be good. Did I just blow my thermostat? It's a cheap York switch installed about 3 years ago.

Thanks!

David

Shouldn't have hurt the stat just switching it to heat. I think I'de call the installer. Anything yo do may void the warranty.

What is this 3 year old tstat doing on the new heatpump??
You dont want a set back or old program kind of tstat on a heat pump at all. You dont save as the electric turns on for the fast pick up.

About 2 months old call the guys that put it in back for sure. Did You put this old tstat on????

They never changed the stat since the heat pump was all they changed. I had the original installer come back out today. He tells me something is blowing the fuse/switch at the furnace. He thinks the fan is going out at the very least, which I don't like since they were just out here recently and didn't recommend it then.

It was originally an insurance claim, so I'm going to try to reopen the claim to get this handled through it as well.

Thanks for your help.
