I have 6 4x4 inch tiles that form a picture of flowers in a vase. I have 24 2x2 inch tiles that go around these tiles to form a border. I would like to know how to mount these tiles so that I can hang them on a wall. I thought I would attach hardybacker to plywood and then use thinset to attach the tiles to the hardybacker but I think this would be very heavy. Any other ideas would be welcome!

I think, since you're just going to be hanging the tiles, you could probably just use thin plywood, and use Liquid Nails to adhere the tiles, then grout the seams. it'd be lighter that way, too. but i'm no tiling pro......

which is why i've moved your post from Accessories to the Tile forum, in case they have better advice. i'm probably missing something....

good luck!

I was definitely looking for a lighter version of what I was trying to accomplish and it sounds as though you might have found it. Hopefully a tile "expert" will second your idea.
