Are these units worth the money? I am getting a humidifier with a new heat pump but not sure if the air cleaners make that big of a difference in air quality. We already have a dog and just wondering if I should just use better filters in our new heat pump or get one of these electronic air cleaners. I have never had one so far in the house but I would like to know if they are really worth the money?

Electronic air cleaners are very effective when they're clean. Keeping them clean is another story. There is, believe it or not, 1 model that is connected to plumbing and washes itself when needed, but how much extra money do you have?? IMHO You would be much happier with a good media filter.

Pets and eac's are a maintenance nightmare. Just go with a good pleated filter and change it every 30 - 90 days depending on how dirty it gets.

Mine did not seem like it was doing a good job even when washed each week. :) I pulled out the two elements and slid in a Honeywell pleated filter 20x25x4 in its place. This has been in since Nov. 04 and is doing a better filtration job.
