Hi,

I want to build a go-cart from scratch. Where can I get plans?

I was thinking of using a a 4.5HP - 4 stroke lawnmower engine to power the thing (It would give me an excuse to get a new mower! :D ). Can I use this engine given that it has a vertical shaft and that I can't install it on its side? If so, how do I get the power to the axel?

Many thanks!

Unless you want to spend a bunch on gears to transfer the vertical shaft to a horizontal power unit. scrap the lawnmower engine and start from TRUE scratch with a horizontal shaft engine. Sorry, just a fact of life.

Guess the lawnmower engine is out... What would you recommend as HP specs? is a 3.5 HP sufficient ? I'd like to build the go-cart for dirt road (or light offroading).
