I just bought an antique white bedroom furniture set, its by Laura Ashley. I've pasted the URL below. I love it cos its so different, everyone I know have darker colored bedroom furniture, so I was very excited when I bought this. Now this is a 14X20 room, with a cream color on the walls right now, and my furniture just sinks into the walls. This makes me want to paint the walls a darker color that will bring out my furniture but am a little apprehensive about which color to go with - dark blue or maybe wine or maybe dark brown. I just cant decide. I do not want a country look, though if you look at the furniture that's the first thing you'll think of. I love silks, the grandeur of rich drapes, I have huge windows in this room. I love silk comforter sets. So please help me decide the color of my walls, comforter and curtains. Please, please , please
Oh also, the other thing is I do want the furniture to reflect more of white that beige/yellow. Do you know any color that can help?

gorgeous furniture!!! ;) (not country at all, by the way)

you are right about creamy walls not being enough of a contrasting backdrop to really showcase this furniture. but i don't think i'd go as harsh as navy or wine. the trend now seems to be more of a subtle contrast. any color on the wall will set the pieces off - it doesn't have to be a dark jewel tone. i'm thinking of a nice mid-tone mocha, to pick up the antiquing/distressing on the furniture, and then use the bedcoverings to bring in some punches of color. or, as was shown in the first picture, the warm gold was nice.......

BUT before you decide on a paint color, please find your bedding first. paint is available every day, all year long, at any hardware store, in ANY COLOR - literally! bedding & accessories are not! you will be limited by what you can find that you like and that works with the furniture & whatever flooring you've got, and what you can afford. so start there. then pull a color from the fabrics for the walls & it will all coordinate perfectly.

Thanks Annette, ok, so I'll start looking for a comforter set and curtains to go with it and then decide on the paint, you are right, the colors I picked may be a little harsh.
Do you(or anyone reading this) have any suggestions where I can get comforters and sheets that are silk and very rich. I love the Pasha set in Macy's but it worked out to like $800 for the entire set, if I picked all the pieces, But this is sort of the look I want . Any ideas/suggestions/advice. I've pasted the URL of the comforter set at Macys. i'd love something that maybe might go with dark blue cos. I got these gorgeous curtains as a gift, very glamourous and in fact a little shiny, I was hoping I can use them in this room

try putting "bedding" or "silk bedcoverings" or "comforter sets" etc into your internet search. you'll find a lot. also search in your favorite stores/brands. TheCompanyStore.com has bedding similar to what you like. might take a look there. Horchow has nice stuff, too.

another thought is to get just the comforter & maybe the pillow shams from the Macy's set, and then mix in some lesser expensive accessories from somewhere else that will coordinate just as well, but won't run up an $800 bill. items like sheets, dust ruffle, toss pillows, etc. are easily blended in.

regrding colors for antique white furniture...
hmm my opinion... it all depends what you like as in colors...soothing,warm,or wild...it what ever you like..theres no judging
i too have cream colored walls, with white trim..but i dont have say antique white furnitue..lol yet...
but anyways...i say it about accessories, accessories and accessories!!!!!
like bedding, drapes, umm, things that your goin to be needing that you will be using and also for show/decorating.
have you tried anything like changing the handles on the dresser draws...or doors, lighting fixtures...things like that? simple things go a long way..id say
if you like the color on the walls...why would you want to go all out and start painting the walls. just a question....id say light pastelly colors to go with the antique white furniture, and the cream walls. be suttle on brite colors though ..reason for that...you going to draw attention away from the furniture.
this is my lil though hope i could help steer u in the right direction;)
good luck!
