'I have a strange smell coming through floorboards,like copper and onion!
it seems to happen when heating is on or the water is heating up.
any ideas.

What kind of heating? If it's electric it will smell when you 1st start using it untill you burn off all the dust and dirt from summer.

dirt that got past filter sticking to strips probably, very common

The smell seems to be going now,must have been dust on copper pipes.
The heating system is gas using potterton boiler,thought it was that but it has been cleaned.Thanks for your replies. :D
