Hi,I have a new Kenmore Elite gas stove with electric oven,i notice that when opening the oven door it will pull down the burner flames when on low and put them out!,if you are not careful with this the gas smell gets bad and then if you relight the burner Kaboom!...the appliance repair guy said that he saw another one of these stoves do this and there was no fix.is this a common problem with gas stoves as it seems to make a vacumn when opening the oven door and pulling down on the burners(it will extinguish all four burners)any suggestions on a stove that won't do this??? :(

Hello ianson and Welcome to the Do It Yourself Web Site and my Gas Appliances topic.

Personally, I have not seen such an event as that decribed. Nor could I imagine nor invision how, by any means, all four top burner flames be extinguished, while set to lowest flame, by opening the oven door.

Which does not mean nor imply such cannot be the case or be happening, just that I have not encountered a case nor know of anyone whom has. Sorry, just can't help more at this time. I'll inquire on the matter and see if anyone has heard, known or encountered such.

I have the same problem with a JennAir gas cooktop whenever I open a drawer or cabinet door beneath the cooktop. These are sealed burners, but apparently the combustion air is drawn from beneath the cooktop. Fortunately, the burners are self-igniting and re-light themselves after a flameout. I have requested an explanation from the manufacturer but have received no reply. I consider this a design flaw.

Hello: ianson and razz

Thus far, sad to say, not found any specific information for the problem or condition either of you described. Below are the links to manufacturers web sites. Doubt any specific help on the problem will be found.

Jenn-air is a Maytag product and the phone number is included below. If not already placed a phone call to the company, might try that. Not sure what method you used to requested info and not heard back. Email may or may not work or take days or longer. Try the phone number if needed or not done so already.

Also might try this link to http://www.planetfeedback.com
Not visited the site in a year or two. A direct email contact through the site to factory reps, whom do reply back.

I'm still working on the issue too.
