I noticed my A/C drain pipe dripping. Filter has been changed, A/C is not showing any problems - cooling fine, not running for extended periods of time - I opened the unit and noticed ice on the coils. I assume the problem is freon. Is there anything else that would need to be checked? I'm trying to budget for this cost. What should be the average cost for this?

Ice forming on the coils could be a few differant things and low refrigerant is one of them. 1st off clean the indoor coil and blower wheel real good, make sure none of the returns or supplys are blocking air flow, what type filter did you put in? Some of the high efficient filters are to restrictive.
If none of this helps you'll need a pro. Price is hard to guess but anywhere from $60.00 - $100.00 to check it and find the leak, maybe more if the leak is hard to find. Then the cost will be higher depending on what repair needs to be made to fix the leak.
