Hi gang...new here...I just bought a house about three months ago and am wondering how to "clean" the gas stove/oven that came with the house...do I still go wit the standard "easy-off" application? Or is this not the appropriate product for cleaning the oven on a gas appliance?
Any help would be aprpeciated, thanks.

Hello Jason and Welcome to the Do It Yourself Web Site and my Gas Appliances topic.
Three important factors to consider before any cleaning is done.
1)
If the surfaces are smooth porcelain, oven clean can be used.
2)
If the surfaces are not smooth, have a coating that feels slightly rough, use no oven cleaner. Doing so will ruin the self absorbtion sprayed on coating.
If the non smooth & slightly rough or bumpy coating has stains, that is normal for an oven with a coating, which is designed to absorb spills. The surface has been factory coated to absorb spills. That type is called a continuous cleaning oven. Stains are suppose to remains and the surfaces are suppose to look stained, spotted and or dirty (dirty, as some term it)
If the surfaces are smooth, oven cleaner can be used.
Three parts to be avoided:
1)
Hot Surface Ignitor.
DO NOT spray the pilot assembly or the Hot Surface Ignitor. (HSI) Whichever the oven has. (Pilot or HSI) If the oven has a HSI, (Ignitor that glows) spraying it with oven cleaner will deteriorate & destroy it.
2)
Temperature Sensor:
The sensor is the element tube that is inside the ovens baking compartment area where the cleaning is to be done. The sensor will be on the upper right side wall, back upper wall or above on the upper panel. Sensor should have two clips supporting element.
3)
Light Bulb.
To be sure no spray gets onto either of these two parts (1 & 2) or the bulb. Cover all of them with cloths. Must avoid any spray getting onto them or an over spray getting onto them.
Oven cleaner is caustic. Spraying either the HSI and or the Temp Sensor will distroy the HSI. Replacement would than be required. Oven clean will pitt, corrode and deteriorate temp sensor. Oven temp will deteriorate quickly and soon not be accurate. Thermostat will than need to be replaced.
