I have a FHP (Florida Heat Pump) water-to-air a/c model HEV-42-1 unit. I turn the thermostat to ON from OFF and the blower fan will run for a short period of time (15-30) seconds and then shut off. The fan spins and I think the blower cap is good. I asked my wife pick up a new blower relay and will try that. Do you have any other suggestions.

From what you say forget the relay. Sounds more like the motor is bad. It starts and runs then stops. If it dont stay run at fan on. Just what do you have there . Sorry but what is a florida heat pump???
and you have water to air in it??? Is this a Geo ground water set up???

You are absolutely correct the blower relay did nothing. Why is the motor kicking off then. The motor seems to operate as normal atfirst thenit kicks off. I also checked the thermostat by taking the R and G wires with the same effect. If the motor was no good should we not have heat and/or smoke. Should the motor bearings also be bad. Is there any way to check the motor directly. Ihate topurchase a new motor only tofind that it may be something else. Can I check the wye for resistance.
The water to air uses ground water to cool the coils rather than air.

if the bearings are bad, causing the motor to cut out on overload, it would show in the amp draw.

Only other way on the motor is check it out with an a amprobe. Some motors have internal auto fuse in them that will turn motor off.
Water cooled dont you have to clean out the coil there a lot. "Not a thing to do with the fan"
