We purchased a sectional at Marshall Field's. The fabric will be a sage green solid microfiber. We purchased the fabric warranty plan and also had the fabric protected. I'm concerned now (buyer's remorse??) that the fabric won't hold up as we were told. We normally buy patterned or textured furniture to disguise wear/spills. We were assured that spills would clean up fairly easy on this type of fabric. We are hoping to get at least 5 yrs out of this piece... we like to change furniture and weren't looking for a long term investment piece.

Experiences? Thoughts?

Thanks. :)

Micro-woven of 100% polyester Bella microfibers have a soft sensuous suede-like feel (that is cow friendly). These microfibers wear like iron and won't unravel like most fabrics. They are also stain and spill resistant, most stains bead up on the surface of the upholstery.

Care and Cleaning:

To prevent overall soil, frequent vacuuming or light brushing to remove dust and grime is recommended. All stains and spills will remain on the surface of the fabric, but should be treated as soon as possible. Gently dab at the spill (do not scrub) with a clean white cloth, letting the cloth absorb the stain. Never use a sharp object on your microfiber upholstery.

Everyone is using this product in upholstery, pets etc.

You will love it just clean up spill right away and don't rub real hard. The fabric is so closely woven that water repells off.

Good luck hope this help

Thank you.. :p

It feels so luxurious that I'm almost AFRAID to let my family on it! I have 3 dogs (which won't be allowed on) , 3 kids and a husband who tends to spill things ALOT.

We did buy the fabric protection warranty. It was explained to us that if we had a stain that we could not remove we needed to report within 5 days and they'll come out. If they're unable to remove the stain, they'll replace the cushion.

Thank you again for your info.

I am interested in purchasing a microfiber couch. I am already convinced that I want one but I am confused about fabric treatment. One salesman told me that microfiber should not be treated with a protectant because it may cause spotting and is not good for the microfiber...they provide an enzyme kit for stain removal and will come to clean the couch if I can't get the stain out...then it will be replaced if unable to get stain out.
Another salesman at a different store said they do treat the couch, but not with scotchguard...."something for the microfiber". They provide an 800# for stains. Does anyone know whether to treat or not treat???????

it sounds like you're covered either way. i don't have a sure answer for you, but my curiosity got the best of me and i've emailed your question to the folks at Ultrasuede - i'll post back with what i hear. i predict they'll say that the inherent stain resistant characteristics of the fabric don't require any additional protection. but we'll see......

It sounds as tho' some of you have the same "microfiber stain protection" that I purchased for my rather expensive sectional w/ ottomans. Yes, they guarantee it, but don't expect great service. I tried cleaning general dirt w/ water and a soft cloth, like they advised. It didn't work. What DID happen is that the interfacing on the microfiber separated from the fabric, and now the fabric is stretchy and unstablized. Furthermore, greasy stains do not come out well. I called in a claim w/in the 5 days (as instructed) after a messy pizza spill. They sent out a bottle of special cleaner A MONTH LATER! It didn't do the job either, so I called back, and they said they wd schedule a technician to come out and try to clean the stain. Finally, someone came, ANOTHER 2 MONTHS LATER! They couldn't get it clean either, so pictures were made, and a claim filed. As for the general dirt, they said that to preserve my guarantee, I must engage the services of a licensed, professional cleaner that knew how to clean upholstery treated w/ Guardian products. I called the best in the DFW metroplex. When they came out to offer an estimate for cleaning, I was in shock! IF they cleaned the sofa, it would cost more than $500, but they refused to clean it, not knowing what cleaning products Guardian had used, (and I certainly didn't!), and they didn't want to be liable for damages if a product they used reacted w/ a product that was used previously, and damage occurred. So I am in a tizzy, with a dirty sofa, and company coming in a week!
Finally, after EIGHT MONTHS, the company has offered to replace my sofa (the model I purchased is no longer available) up to my purchase price (which was significantly reduced from the original price), minus the taxes and protection and delivery fees, or I keep my sofa, and they give me $470! Either way, I am screwed. If I replace it (only at the store at which it was purchased, so my choices are very limited) I am out $$ for the taxes and fees, and I probably don't get a sofa near the value of my original. If I keep the sofa, I have a sofa that I love, but looks sloppy and that can't be cleaned satisfactorily, and the $470 won't even cover ONE professional cleaning, which they recommend doing every 6 months! I will NEVER purchase an upholstered piece of furniture again that I cannot steam clean myself! MICROFIBER IS HIGHLY OVERRATED!
