I have an late 1890s brick home, very dark brick and am trying to find color ideas on what to paint the trim. I do not want all white, I was going to go with a black and white motif, then there was a warning on my doors stating I should not paint them a dark color they will warp...Is this true? Does any one have any alternative color suggestions?

what color is "very dark brick"???
is your door wood, metal or something else? if it has a label on it plainly stating you shouldn't paint it a dark color because it might warp, for heaven's sake, don't paint it a dark color! if you want an explanation as to why this might occur, repost this part of your question in the Doors & Windows forum. they might know something about it.
