Shaved 1/8" off each side of door (styles). Glass paneled non-prehung. Everything fits perfect, I'm getting good at this. One problem is that standard bed/bath knobs or levers come with a 2 3/8" or 2 3/4" backset. With 2 3/8" backset, the knob collar slightly hangs over the style and since it is a glass paneled door, it will look quite poor. I called Schlage and they don't make anything with less than a 2 3/8" backset. I haven't yet cut out for the knob, so any help will be appreciated.

2-3/8" is going to be the shortest backset you find. Since you haven't bored the hole for the know yet, you might be able to find a knob that uses a 1" bore, rather than the standard 2-1/8", that has a smaller flange on it.
Short of that, you are probably looking at figuring out a way to alter the INSIDE edge of the stile (where it meets the glass) to make up for the 1/8" you took off the outside edge.
The LAST resort is to replace the door with one that has a wider stile.
