Hi everyone...

When trying to program in the code for my NEW dual VCR/DVD player for my Dish remote none of the codes I've tried work....therefore rendering the very nice option of auto recording channels useless. I don't understand why a new VCR/DVD wouldn't have a working code.

Is there anything I can do apart from trashing the VCR and buying a new one????

I really really need this feature to work!
Thanks

control have the ability to "learn" from the old remote? You'll need to check your owner's manual. If it can then you should be able to teach it the codes you need.

I'm not sure how this remote works, but could you use a "universal" remote control? Or does the remote you want to use have a timer that sends codes to turn on and change channels? (In this case your probably stuck).

My last idea would be to call the manufacture's tech support or try the website, there may be a way around this that they know of...or if your really lucky they'll have the codes you need posted on the web site.

Good Luck!

Hi thanks for replying. The Dish remote doesn't have a learn feature, unfortunately. Thanks for the suggestion of the universal remote but I wonder if it would make a difference. The Dish remote is universal too but the code given in the book doesn't work for the dual VCR/DVD player. (Along with about 30 others I tried...about 20 more to try). It's just the standard remote from Bell. Works great on the TV but not this Dual Toshiba. It's frustrating since it's only a few months old. I may do as you mentioned and call Toshiba.

Thanks & if anyone else has a suggestion please let me know in this thread. I'd really appreciate it.

Have you tried searching the codes - this is usually an option if none of the programmable codes work.

If all else fails, get a good Universal Remote from Home Theater Controls that will learn the codes from all of your remotes.

Good luck!

The learning remote is my 1st choice. That way I can program only the buttons that I want. Also it has macro functions so I can turn on the dish at the same time as the TV.

Just to follow up...it could be me but I did as suggested and purchased a new Universal remote with learning buttons but this does not change the fact that the code will not work for running the VCR. The Dish will not accept any of the proper codes. I did a search on the new remote and 3 codes will run the VCR from the new remote... but all three will not work iwith the dish as it tells me it is a code not in their database. No other remote will help me it's the Dish receiver that has the issue.

Thanks for trying to help though.
