I have a 2 year old KA dishwasher KUDR01T. Stainless interior with full length door (no lower panel). I think this is called a 'gen 2' design, but am not sure. It has been a very good unit, but wednesday blew the thermal fuse. It is a 98C 4A fuse. It clips/plugs in and has no pigtails. I replaced it and wondered what may kill the thermal fuse and hoped it was a weak fuse. Well it is Saturday and it blew again. It blew before the unit had drained completely both times. What factors could cause such a problem? I do not think the dishwasher is getting to 98C, but feel that I may be exceeding the 4A and am wondering why or what I could check. It is still very quiet and cleans well. Thoughts / comments?

Hello: Keith. Welcome to the Do-It-Yourself Web Site.

Possible there is a small water leak in the lower gasket between the bottom of the water holding tank and the motor. Some water may be getting onto or into the motor or some other electrical part. Check for water leakage and look under the machine where ever it is possible to do so.

Retail appliance parts dealers can also help determine what the possible problem may be. Bring the make, model and serial numbers. Appliance part stores and parts dealers are listed in the phone book.

I'll look for a leak tonight, but it was bone dry on the floor under the dishwasher on Wednesday when it first blew. Right now I have a jumper in place and want to fix this ASAP. I'll call the place where I bought it tomorrow and see if they can shed any light. Thanks!

I have an even older model but have the same problem. The themal fuse in the door blew. I have it jumper also so the dishwasher works. The waster is not as hot as normal. I am thinking the heating element might be the cause, what doe you think? Is there a test for the element? Ohms maybe? what is normal?
