I have an ordinary toilet. For some time we have had a problem whereby the toilet seems to flush too quickly leaving at times left-overs which can be embarassing especially with visitors. What adjustments do I need to do?

Adjust the chain on the flapper valve so that it opens more completely, or replace teh fapper with one that has a styrofoam float on it to keep it open a couple of seconds longer.
