my fairly new dishwasher leaked lots of water during its last load, that appeared to be coming from the left bottomside of the door. it has been ran many times and never leaked before, and i am running it now empty and it is not leaking. it wasn't extremely overloaded, is it possible that something was just in it wrong. i also have checked the drain and it appears to be draining just fine. bought the house 6 mo ago and it came with the dw, and it appears to be a proffesional install. it appears to be level right to left, but didnt check the front to back level before starting this test run.

just opened it to level and found water pooling at the bottom. looks like the drain is the issue. how can i clean this drain?

Hello: sprinternate

Since the dishwasher came with the house, it may not be as new as suspected to be. Thus the door seal may be worn out. Replacing it may provide the solution.

Cleaning dried on soap residue and hard water desposits on and around the door and the frame may help or solve the problem. Or the door may not be closing as well in all areas on the seal, etc.

Not likely a draining issue nor a water level issue. Some water must remain in the bottom of the machine to protect the lower seal from drying out during the drying process and non use periods.

Retail appliance parts dealers can also help determine what the possible problem may be. Bring the make, model and serial numbers. Appliance part stores and parts dealers are listed in the phone book.

Contrary to popular beliefs the door seals on most dishwashers do not seal tight at the bottom. So if something, say a cookie sheet or plate is placed in just the right place, it can cause the water from the spray arm to spray at an odd angle that could force the water out under the door bottom edge. That might be all that happened. Just keep an eye on it and load your dishwasher carefully. Doug
