What is a recommended brand to go with on a packaged unit, 3.5 ton, 12 SEER system? So far I have only consulted with one contractor who works with the Carrier. I've never heard of this brand and wanted to know if you guys were familiar with their reputation? I'm a bit familiar w/ American Standard and Trane. How do these stand up to Carrier?

All three are good quality. Most important is the installer. Be sure they do a load calculation to insure that the system is the proper size. Check around with neighbors and friends to see who they trust and use.

Make sure you get 3 bids for the job. Like Matt said the guy that has been around there the longest is the brand to go with.
