All,
We have some dinning room chairs we are re-doing, as in re-upholstering them AGAIN, but this time we are using a leather look-a-like type material. We can get the sides down nice but we are having a )*&^#$ time with the corners. How do you do corners right? Do you have any pictures or step by step type of info you can help with? Any help would be great. BTW, the seats are trpazoid shapped and have corners of about a 1" to 3/4" radius to go around. Also, are there places you can go to, (WEB that is) that have pictures to show the process of doing the corners, etc.? We don't do this all that often, but when we do it would sure be nice to have a clue on how to do them... Thanks in advance.

First lay your seat on the fabric and make sure to center it on the fabric, if it has a design in it. Than cut out the fabric about 1 1/2 larger all the way around the seat shape. Than lay your board of the seat on foam and draw with a majic maker and cut it with a electric knife. Now that is ready to glue on to the board. I use a spray glue.
Than take the fabric or leather and put 4 holding tack or staples on each side. Than working your way around the chair seat on each size about an inch apart tack or staple. All that is left is the corners.
My opion would be after all the leather has been attached except the four corners. Now doing the curved corners pull the material straight over the center of the curve then work to the straight side. You should have a little excess leather on each end of the curve. Now make a nice fold right there, so they'll be two on each curve, just make them all look the same. Cut any excess leather off. And cover with dust cover.
