Gosh, i haven't been in a haunted house in YEARS! as soon as i was old enough to be able to tell how they were all put together, they seemed really cheesy (kind of like amusement parks, too!) i do recall, however, thinking any room with a strobe light was really cool! and chainsaws with the chains removed were pretty scary.

maybe you could read the front page of your local newspaper or watch the 6:00 news & get some more gorey ideas.

A garage is a small place. Hang black plastic trash bags or plastic sheeting to help direct traffic through and create more walls. Hang from ceiling. Many use costumed actors and/or props. You must scare the guests. Get friends to be live actors or buy or create own props. You can build or buy props. If you are using live people, make sure you have backups if this is a long-time event because people have to go to the bathroom and they get thirsty. If you are using mechanical props, continual inspection is important due to safety and fire issues. Then, you must decide if this is going to be a neighborhood, school, or community event and plan accordingly. If you are having a private party, mail invitations. What is crucial is that you have orderly entrances, movement through the haunt, and quick exits. If people run out screaming, then you know you were a success. Yawns are not acceptable.

Our daughter is having a haunted birthday party on the 30th with the garage turned into a haunted forest in which the girls have to walk thru the forest in order to find the witches lair. We'll be hanging up plastic sheeting and making the pathway to the lair lined with small dead trees, dead leaves on the floor, gravestones, fog and scary music. The witches lair will be a table set up to look like a witch was recently working there with a cauldron, large spell book, jars filled with creepy things. Oh Yeah, my husband has a large werewolf mask and he plans on hiding somewhere in the forest when the girls are making their trek back to the house.

Happy Haunting!
