What would be the best tool(s) to cut a hole for a venting pipe on the side of a dryer? Bosch supplies a "special tool" (at a price) for this purpose. I was just wondering what tools commonly available could be used for this?

Correct size hole saw will do this best. But depending on material, you have to choose the right metal and set up for this.

boonjh,

A hole saw would be a good tool to use but because you need a 4 1/4" hole, that size hole saw for metal and a big enough drill to drive it would not be practical for one hole.
A jig saw with a metal cutting blade or a good pair of offset tin snips would do the job.

How much does the "special tool" cost.

Most dryer's have a half punch out on them for the pipe check it out. Are just a good aircraft snips will do it for you.
