Got a Jenn-Air downdraft electric stove SVE 47500 that has a problem. Last night we went to turn on the blower exhaust fan and nothing happened, and then the worst smell spread throughout the kitchen. This afternoon, I pulled the exaust fan assembly, removed the motor and took it to the motor repair shop. there we hooked it up and everything worked fine (both speeds). What else could have caused the fan to stop working and how do you go about troubleshooting. Thanks in advance.

Hello: shreveporteric
If the motor worked fine when connected directly during bench testing but not while installed in the stove, than some other part or connection to the motor in the stove is the cause.
You will than need to determine what part(s) are connected between the switch, that turns on the fan motor, including that switch, which are likely to be causing that problem. Exactly what part or parts can or may be determined by inspection or on the manufacturers web site, etc.
