We are remodeling the kitchen with stainless steel appliance a 48 inch range DDS top with five burners and a griddle and huge hood with a warming shelf s huge Isalnd and we have choosen Blue Pearl for the Granite and painted the walls a misty blue with gray doors and dark trim which willk follow into the laundry room.
The question is since the kitchen is so open and flows into the TV room with a pretty arch door way we have Maurve color drapers that we want to keep with that room and wanted to know what color would go nicely and blend with the kitchen? The Tv room has a fireplace a huge window and a smaller one and then we have our big screen tV with surround sound. The drapries are custome made black out so that is why I want to stay with them. We are also putting in lamiated wood flooring thoughout the house. We had some mold and water demage so we are trying to fix everything. The mold people aren't cheap but at least we know what to do and nothing is a health issue.

I will say one thing. Any of you who plan on using copper green for wood and have allergies be ware. Not even a face mask helped me and I got posioned from all the stuff and have Asthma a sinitis infection which they said would clear up if I let someone else do they work for now. So Poor hubby and the kids are painting now.

Dixie,
I would try either the gray trim color (in your kitchen) as a color for your living room, or a lighter variation of it. Gray is a neutral, and your mauve drapes should "pop" ; plus you would see a flow from kitchen to living room.

Dixie,
My screen name is now brown_eyed_girl. My husband had entered me using his name, etc.

Thanks everyone for such great ideas. I never thought of using grey inthat room too. But wouldn't it be too much of the same color? For my TV room that is.

Dixie,
Once you paint the room, hang some pictures, etc, I think you will be surprised with the results. If you're not used to using "different" colors, it might take a little getting used to at first. Another thing about using a neutral color on the walls is you can use more color in other places (i.e. decorative pillows, colorful floral arrangements, paintings, etc)

Good luck! :)

beware of using gray for your walls, with wood floors. if the floors are going to be a very warm, yellow-based tone, the gray will be awful with it and the 2 colors will fight. depending on the tones, the gray could drain all the warmth out of the floor. try to stay with as warm of a gray as possible - more of a taupy gray. what color will the floors be? using a large area rug to anchor the main seating area in the LR will help.

My floors are going to be Laminated (timberRidge Glueless flooring
I really want a warm inviting color but really don't want it to be gray. the kitchen color is so pretty Misty blue with Gray trim in the skylight walls and then we have a little darker blue trim for accent and since the laundry room is part of the kitchen we followed the same color in there. the blue Pearl granite will really make it pop when it is all done

I just love all these great idea everyone had given me and it really helps since hubby likes everything in white and to me that is so boring..
Thanks Dixiemartin
Oh we have reliners for the tv room that goes in a little circle and their colors are blue, black and marve color and then we are going to get little track lighting to bring out more light for that room. Hope that helps for color ideas...

what is your fireplace surround? brick/stone/wood paneling? depending on the answer, and working with the mauve draperies & recliner, i'd go with a darker mauve (ie burgundy) for the LR walls. then throw in some burgundy/mauve accents in the kitchen to tie the rooms together.

P.S. don't be afraid to use a bold color - it sounds like with the huge windows & fireplace, etc you probably don't have all that much wall space. and with the window & track lighting, it shouldn't be dark at all, but rather very warm & cozy. you can always use burgundy mottled with a lighter color to lighten it slightly & also add depth & texture.

Our fireplace is in Brick and we had taken all the wood paneling down to lighten the room. We have a projector tv so the screen is large to just kick back and enjoy the movies. I like your ideas

what color of brick? is it orangey and will clash with the mauve? or something that looks good with the mauve?

the brick is just the regular brick color kind of dual but looks like a fireplace.
I don't think it will look out of place if I painted the walls mauve.
