Hi all, new member here. We have a 3 year old GE top loading washer and it's never given us a problem, but I tried to wash a few small hand towels today and the washer started filling up with water as usual, but then it stopped all of a sudden and wont do anything now. I went through the manual and checked the trouble shooting guide and checked all that but nothing seems to work. Here is some info on the Washer:

GE Washer

Model# S1070A1WW

Thanks for any help anyone can give.

Look in the console for the wiring diagram. Check the lid switch and water level switche. If you're not comfortable working with live electricity, then please call your servicer.

Hello DeadPlasmaCell and Welcome to the Do-It-Yourself Web Site.

Defective and or broken door lid safety switch is the most likely cause and the easiest to determine and replace, if need be. The safety switch is located inside the top lid around the door frame. The tab that pushes it in to close the contacts is located on the top lid.

The safety switch must work or the machine does not operate. It will fill but not agitate, spin or rinse, etc. Most likely cause for the problem described.

Retail appliance parts dealers can also help determine what the possible problem may be. Bring the make, model and serial numbers. Appliance part stores and parts dealers are listed in the phone book.
