I need to replace the cement coating on the upper 5 feet of my block chimney. Is there a product, other then mortar that I can use to make the coating water resistant?

There are waterproof cement products available. If chimney is not capped moisture will ruin crown and coating when it gets behind it. Freezing and thawing in winter will push coating off.
