I have an air tank that is 25 inches long and 10 inches in dia. I need a compressor to fill it with. There is a 3/4inch opening with threads for attaching the air inlet. Where would I find a compressor for this tank, or where should I start looking?
Thanks guys,
Joan

www.northerntool.com, but their low-end compressor pump is $199. Your probably not going to save money by adding a pump to your tank vice buying a pump/tank set.

Joan,
Exactly what type of tank is it and what was it originally used for?
Do you want to fill the tank with air and use it as a portable or attach a compressor to it to make it stationary?

I want to attach a compressor to it. I dont know what it was used for, I just ran across it in my workshop and can't remember where it came from.

In all honesty, the tank is the least expensive piece of an air compressor set up.
You will need the compressor head, motor, pressure switch, check valve, pressure relief valve, drain valve, manifold, regulator, fittings, tubing and the knowlege of how it all fits together.
Plus, you have to be certain the tank will be suitable.
We can provide the information about assembling everything but if the learning curve will be steep and you want to do this to save money, you will be miles ahead to just purchase a small compressor already built.

I would agree it would be easier to just buy a new compressor. Not many suppliers out there supply the compressors without the tanks.
You can get a low end compressor for $150.00
Or you could spend $400.00 for a good one.
