For about a year, my dishwasher (GE Quiet Power, Pot scrubber, Model GSD1150T62, about 10years old) had a loud grinding sound when turned on, however it has always cleaned the dishes just fine. The other day when I ran it I noticed that it sounded a little different than usual, but I just let it run. About 10 minutes after starting it, it sounded like it was sparking. I turned it off and took off the kick guard, turned it back on and there was sparking from the motor. I would like to repair (replace motor) it myself rather than buying a new dishwasher. Would it be worth it, or would it just be better to get a new one? Also, I am not positive that the motor is the only problem. Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks,

Hi,
I have changed many of those motors, But you have to buy the Pump/Motor Assembly , its very expensive, about $300.00
Its abit tricky to put in with the 2 hose clamps in the back of the motor, unless you pull the dishwasher out to repair it, much easier. :)
I have done so many, i just change it from were the dishwasher is installed.

Could the grinding sound be from my motor/pump assembly? Could some grinding possibly be from the spray arm assembly and supports?

Yes,
Thats what i find alot, then it tears up the motor/pump impeller.

Jake...Thanks for you help.
What piece of the spray arm assembly is most likely to cause the grinding? What should I look for when taking it apart? I have taken the spray arm assembly apart down to the support assembly. The only thing that looks wrong is the check valve was pretty much gone. How would I know if the ring seal is bad?
Thanks
