Hi.

I have a fireplace in my lounge that looks to me rather hacked together. Since I got this flat a few years ago I have used it over the winters. Its now getting cold but some of the fire place has fallen apart.

This is my fireplace from the front

and as you may be able to see the black metal hood has droped down and is sagging to the right.

Some of the concreat or fireclay has droped out from between the stone of the building and the metal hood exposing the inside of the fire surround.

The rest seems rather insecure.

The metal hood also seems not to be fixed in place in any way. It is just "compressed " between the sides of the marble surround.

My questions are
1) How should I fix the metal hood in place. Screw it to the marble some how?
2) How should I fill the big gap between the hood and the stone of the chimney? What with and how to keep it just droping out?
3) How should I fill what is the very small gap between the metal hood and the marble surround (at the top)?

Thankyou very much for your help
Adrian
