I just purchased a Sony 26" LCD TV, Model#: KLV-26HG2. I have my VCR and DirecTV TiVo receiver connected to it. I'm able to get a TV signal but the image isn't all that great. I've read reviews and did research on the TV before I bought it and everyone remarked what a wonderful picture/resolution it had. Maybe I'm more discriminatory but the images it's displaying aren't all that great; which leads me to believe maybe I'm just not adjusting it correctly or maybe I need to use a specific cable for each specific hook-up (ex. S-Video, Composite, etc.) I've also read where people have adjusted theirs using an "AVIA DVD" but I don't know what that means. It must be some other product you can use with a DVD player because nothing of the sorts came with my TV.

The letters on the screen look crisp and perfect but any moving images make the TV appear out of focus. It's as if it needs to readjust the image to bring in the picture back in again. It kinds of messes with your eyes when watching it!!! Parts of the moving image will be clearer but most of it will appear out of focus and not crisp at all. I get a better resolution on my old CRT-TV! I'm ready to take it back but wanted to see if there's anything I can do to make the images appear better and not unfocused. The only menu option on the TV I've adjusted is the "Sharpness" which can be switched from 1 to 6. None of those values seem to make much difference though.

Sorry for the long post but any ideas or help would be tremendously appreciated!!! Thank you!

For the DTV Tivo, at least use component video cable(blue, green, red).
If you're not - try that first. If that doesn't help you may need a DVI cable to improve the pq.
Wait - IS THE DTV TIVO an HD Receiver????

per below, can you set the DTV HD receiver(if you have it) to 760p

Key Features: HDTV monitor (compatible with HDTV/SDTV formats — when connected to a separate HDTV tuner — and displays all signals at 768p)

A couple of things:

1. Probably is the cabling. The TIVO at least has s-video if not component (blue, green, red). Connect the TIVO directly to the TV. Use the component cables if the TIVO has that output. These are strictly for the picture. Use good stereo cables for the sound.

2. Use composite cables (yellow, red, white) to connect the VCR to the TV.

3. Do not expect great pictures from the VCR. Compared to the satellite, the VCR image will look horrible. The TV software does a good job correcting the image, but you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear.

4. The DVD you mention is one of several brands of set-up discs that guide you thru making optimum adjustments for TVs and home theaters.
