I've got a Trane AC/Heat pump approx. 16 years old.
Ait handler continues to run after compressor shuts off.
I tried replacing mercury thermostat with a programmable one, but still no luck.

Hit the side of the inside unit hard with your hand. Or pull the G wire off tstat. If still on put new fan relay in

Dont put a progammable tstat on a heat pump. When you set it back on heat and it comes back on most of the time it will turn on the electric heat to help pick up the temp. So you dont save.
