does this seem high? don't know anything about chimneys plus I don't have the time to get up on my roof and do the project. I had a company come out and sweep it for $130.00 (by the way I saw some of you asking what a chimney sweep would be and I found that it ranges from 110.00 to 140.00) and asked them to quote me a price to line the chimney, cap it and repoint it. They quoted me $2,300 which includes labor. I like this company but this seems a bit high. Or does anyone know if it's normal price? I don't mind paying it if it's within a $100.00 of the norm. Thanks

Can't help you with the $$, but do have a couple of thoughts, if you don't mind me sticking my nose in here............

1. What kind of system is the new liner? Is it a well-known company?
2. Does your sweep routinely install liner systems?
3. Get references on the installer and call them ALL.
4. If you do this, make sure the company gets a permit, so that you have not only code compliance, but another set of eyes on the project.
5. If you know a building inspector, ask them about good liner contractors. Ask them which contractors they have the least trouble with. That is a question that they are allowed to answer...............
6. Call your insurance company and ask them about liner contractors, but keep in mind that they usually go with low bid............. Also ask them if you are entitled to a rate reduction since you have a liner system...........

You might have a couple of other companies give you quotes so that you know what price range you should be in.............

Hope this helps..............
