I have a 1960’s vintage bath I’m remodeling. Part of the walls are covered w/ 4”x4” plastic or vinyl tiles that need to be removed. I’m thinking that the old tile glue will be too time consuming to completely remove; so I was thinking I would pop off the tiles, aggressively scrape away as much glue as possible, wash walls and then apply a layer of drywall mud or texture paint to cover any remaining glue. Has anyone had a similar experience and has it worked well?

Thanks in advance for any help.
