We are painting our room a rich gold colour. The ceiling is flat but then there are angled parts that hide pipes etc. between the walls and ceiling. We have treated the angled parts like the walls and painted them gold. Now we have the flat part of the ceiling and we're not sure what to do with it. It looks odd painted white but we are concerned that painting it the same colour as the walls will create a cave-like effect. When the room was a lighter colour we painted the same colour over all surfaces but with this darker colour, we're not sure. Any advice? Thanks for you input.

actually, painting the ceiling the same color as the walls will make the room appear larger, than if it were painted white, because your eye won't stop at the point where 2 colors meet. all the areas will flow together.

however, if the gold on the walls is really dark (but really, how dark can gold be???), then for the ceiling, just go with a lighter shade of it on the ceiling, to reduce the stark contrast that you're getting with the white.

I see what you mean....and you're right...the gold isn't dark....I absolutely LOVE it and it was your idea to begin with!! Thank you very much for the advice.....I am SO happy with the results!
