We have an entire wall that is brick. We left the area with the fireplace still bricked and then drywalled over the rest of the wall. We were hoping to use a brick veneer over the existing brick.

Is anyone familiar with this type of product? We've got the brochures and the installation looks a little complicated for a do it yourselfer! I would think since the wall is already bricked, it would be stable and strong enough to support this type of rock veneer...

Suggestions? We're looking at www.landmarkstone.com

Thanks !

Hi:
Unfortunately I don't have an answer for your regarding your question. However, if you don't mind, I have a question of my own!!

We have a portion of our family room wall that is brick (lower half). I want to drywall over it, so that I can install a fireplace mantle that looks decent!!

Can you give me some pointers as to how you installed the drywall over the bricks?

Thanks in advance!

My husband used liquid nails to hang the drywall over the brick. It's a large sized wall. He needed to tape 2 sheets of drywall. We finally got done putting on 3 coats of primer and it looks fabulous! The whole wall being bricked was just too dark and too brick heavy! I love these river rock stones and my husband is almost certain they can be applied directly over the existing bricks. I'm not even sure if using liquid nails is the ""proper"" way to do this job, but, it worked for us!

If I had it MY way, we would have smashed that whole #$#@ brick wall out of there! But, finances were an issue, so drywalling over a large portion of the brick and then refacing the brick with river rock is our solution.

Good luck!
