I looked everywhere to find an appropriate place for this...Everyone advises me to lay perforated pipe with holes facing down. How is water supposed to find its way in there to drain out that way?

The theory is that if you lay the holes down, what water the ground will take goes that way, and if the water builds up enough, it finds its way into the pipe and goes that way............. So, the pipe acts as an overflow of sorts, taking what the ground won't.

I'm assuming you are using stone and filter fabric..............

Thanks, yes I am using stone and filter fabric; I'm not really sure what role the rock plays.
