I bought a house with an older deck/staircase in the back. It is made from pressurized lumber. The walking surface is kind of slippery. How can I correct that?

The back deck does not get any sun exposure and in a few places on the wood it is slightly green from algae...

Have the deck cleaned or clean it yourself. They do get slippery when wet and full of algae. So be careful until you fix the problem, may feel like an ice rink.

Hi Dave O,

Cleaned how and with what? I could rent a power washer for $35 I suppose. Any other suggestions?

All algae, mildew, etc can be killed/cleaned off with Wolmans Deck/Fence Brightener. It's an oxygenated bleach and will not dameage the wood or surrounding flora. Apply per the container instructions. Find it at REAL paint stores(not Lowes/HD.
Use the pw with a 40 degree tip at about 1500 psi.
