I read (skimmed) thru all the postings by Sharp Advice.....
It solidified my guess that I need to grease up the bearings BUT it will still be on its last leg.
Here is my question....
HOW DO I GET AT THE GUTS OF MY GE PROFILE FRONT LOADER DRYER?????? It is a DPXQ473 (1996ish model...no date) I have taken every damn screw I can find off the thing. I can't get a panel off anywhere....with the exception of the power and top electrical panels.
I am not that dumb....but I am lost. This is stupid but, TWO of the feet are still attached but I can' figure out how to get those off. They are "clipping" two panels together. Are they keeping it together somehow????????????
Thanks,
Brian

Hello; Brian
Open the door and look around the door frame. Look up under the lip or ledge of the inside of the door frame for two vertical screws. If any are there, they secure the front panel and the top lid together.
Not sure on that exact model but some dryers use two clips to secure the upper part of the front panel to the top lid. These clips press inwards to release them. Sometimes a credit card works to release the clips. Push in on the cards to release the clips which are about 2-3 inches in from each end.
All else fails, visit the local appliance parts store form help. Store personal likely to print you a copy of the removal instructions with include pictures. Not likely to find any online or on any online parts vendors.
