how do you figure out what type of paint the previous owners used on a room?
I really don't want to have to prime it if it is not necessary?

I remember soemone telling me once about the nail polish test...does anyone know what this is??

If I remember correctly, you can use acetone.. dab some on a cloth and rub the paint slightly, if it comes off on the cloth, its latex. If it doesnt, its oil based paint.

Rub it with denatured alcohol. If it comes off on the rag, its latex. If it stays solid and doesn't come off, its oil. A paint chip to the paint store won't hurt either though. __________________
