I just had a shower added to my bathtub. I have not tried to use the shower because I wanted to wait until i finished painting to hang up the shower curtain. I bought the shower curtain and installed it today. I tried the shower and there is no water coming out of the shower pipe. I took the shower head off and still no water just a drip or two. What could be the cause. I pulled up on the knob on the faucet. and it seems to be shutting the water off just fine NO leaks or anything. Any thoughts?
Any help would be appreciated.

Could be something wrong with the diverter.

If the tub spout diverter doesn't divert the water to the shower when you pull it up, then you must have another diverter in your faucet that you're not engaging.
What type of faucet do you have? Is it new? Does it have a single-handle? Have you tried pulling out on the faucet handle, if it's a single handle?
Call the plumber that installed the shower line (and/or faucet) and ask them, if you can't get it working.
The tub spout diverter apparently is not what is used to control your new shower.
