Our Wood entrance door was painted on the inside and varnished on the outside. It was badly in need of new finish so we repainted the inside and the outside that was varnished I sanded it and we have given it 4 coats of a good brand of white paint but in several areas the varnish continues to show a little yellow through the paint. What do we need to do before we paint it again?
Thanks,
Harlan

You skipped an important step - you didn't prime it. Best thing to do now is sand with 220 grit. Then prime with a good stain-blocking primer and sand again. Then top coat.

Sand it and prime it first. Spray kilz will do the job as a primer and dries fast too.
