I recently decided to paint my speakers Blue. They were once an off white. but the covers from their grayish color to black. People sugguested just putting a light coat of black spray paint on. but im worried that would keep air from flowing and reduce sound quality. so i was thinking some sort of die. they are removable but a plastic skeleton still stays. 4 pieces. but i didnt know what kind of die i should use. any help would be greatly appreciated. it feels like polyester but im not 100% sure.

thanks in advance

do not spray paint your speaker fabric!

i would think you could dye the fabric (from gray to black, right?) just go to the laundry-supply area of your local store and you'll see a rack of dyes. get black. follow the instructions.

however.......couldn't you just replace the fabric with black fabric? is speaker fabric some sort of special fabric??? you could call around to Sound places & ask....

I don't know if they still carry it, but Hanc0ck Fabrics use to have speaker fabric. It only came in black. If they don't have it, try JoAnn's.

Thanks for the replys I think I'll try dying it, yes from gray to black. I didn't really want to replace it since i'd hafta go get a hotglue gun and some other stuff too. Btw, it has a plastic skeleton behind it to hold the fabric on. which is offwhite. will that dye to black, tint it, or just leave it alone? I don't really care if it does anything but im just a lil curious.
