Anyone have tips on painting this? It is new trim, I plan to put the first coat of oil based semi gloss on before the trim is installed, then fill the nail holes and put the second coat on. Am I using the right type of paint, and an acceptable method? Thanks

If its new, pre-primed trim, I would opt for a latex finish. For trim or linear type applications, I use a 4" short-napped roller, and apply it that way. Roll on about a foot or two, and lightly stroke it smooth with a brush. Blend each start and stop point of the roller with the brush.

I agree. I would raise up the trim boards off the floor by laying some scrap wood under them so if it runs off it does'nt glue to the floor. I use a roller to get the paint on and a brush to smooth it out. I also would rather use latex and would do both coats before putting it up. If you use an air brad nailer shooting 2" brads they are almost unoticeable easy to touch up.
