How do you read the model and serial numbers on a briggs and stratton engine? I'm looking for model, year, and size.

if you give the supplier both the model and serial numbers he can locate the parts you need. he will need both.

The model # is the first set of numbers of the three sets. (the first set of numbers is the model, the second set is the type, and the third set is the code) The size is the first 2 digits of the model #. They are the cubic inches of the engine. The year is determined by the code, which is the last set of numbers. The first two digits of the code is the year.
