Before I start cutting up my whirlpool type bathtub I thought I'd just post my ideas here and see if anyone can see anything I've missed.
Our master bath a a 6' 4" long (exterior) whirly tub that I'd like to "shorten" to make some room to expand our tiny shower stall. I only need to cut about 4" off to make my project workable.
Right now the motor/pump assembly sits on a wooden platform 4" above floor level.
1. Is this necessary to keep the larger (intake?) hose horizontal, or could I lower the assy a couple of inches to allow me to move it "forward" a bit.
2. My plan is to cut off about 4" from the horizontal part of the tub exterior, and move the end bracing forward that much. The tub is cultured marble. When I re-cover the end and side I plan on using tile and put "bullnose" tiles at the top row. Any problems.
Anyone see any problems here? Anything I've overlooked. I just don't want to spend the $600 or so on a new tub, when we never use it anyway. I just think the big spot would look weird with a smaller porcelain tub in it.
Let me know.
