we had some water damage done to our plaster ceiling. Fixed the leak, and plaster is still solid, but we do have some small crumbling spots, also a crack that needs repair. How can I replaster or fix the problem? Can we use joint compound over the entire ceiling? Or will it not look as nice as the plaster? The ceiling is still in great shape, except for the crack. It has a fan like smooth texture to it. Is that easy to redo? Also would appreciate any info on how to plaster. Thanks.

I would have replied sooner but the system wasn't working again. I might be more help if there were a picture or two of the damage and the texture. Sometimes you should hire a plasterer.
