Now that I have the new stem to repair the old one in our tub faucet, I see that the bottom half of the old one has broken off inside the faucet. Have tried a drill bit to get it out, but it won't grip the sides. Help!!!

I assume that you've removed the retaining nut around the stem?

I believe my situation is a little different, we have a munufactured house and the stem is plastic, and the threads that broke off are also plastic
