I have a very old Eljer toilet that needs to have the tank guts replaced. It is avery strange setup, the overflow tube is part of the porcelain back wall and the the flapper valve has a rod running thru the center and supported by another rod that is bolted to the front porcelain wall.
I have been unable to find parts to fix the flush valve. I had decided that I would have to replace the toilet. I was in Home Depot pricing new toilets and I noticed that tanks and bowls are now sold separately. My toilet looks to be pretty much standard size. Here is my question: Are the alignment of bowl and tank the same on all brands of toilets?
Thanks,
Sam

They SHOULD be standard. I would get the dimensions on the spacing of holes from HD's tanks and then take yours apart and check them out. Sounds like you HAVE to do the replacement anyways but it's nice to know what you need.If you turn off the wtaer supply and flush the toilet, then you can get the measurement from inside the tank before you do any disassembly. Good luck. PS There are NO stupid questions here.....just unanswered ones.
